I am inspired by my students and the beauty of southern California each day.
I’ve been teaching Art for over 10 years at St. Catherine of Siena Parish School, located on the Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach, California. I paint plein air watercolor on my own for leisure. This is my first watercolor art exhibition.
I have a passion for art, design and creating things. While at Texas Tech University, I worked on staff at the University Daily Newspaper assembling the campus newspaper in the paste-up/prepress process that included typography and camera work. I drew visual commentary on the daily happenings on campus.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts: Design Communications, with a minor in Illustration, I went on to work in the printing industry and sign manufacturing in Denver. Ten years later, we were relocated to Southern California where my husband and I have raised our two children.
I began as a volunteer at our children’s school. When the position of Art Teacher became available, I was blessed to have been hired and have been teaching TK – 8 grade until the present. Our art program evolved from art-on-a-cart, with storage in the basement, to a beautiful art room in which students visit each week. The curriculum includes clay, weaving, painting, sculpture, and costuming.
In May, our school created our very own child-friendly version of Pageant of the Masters! I have been honored to have students receive awards in the Festival of the Arts, Imagination Celebration and Orange County School of the Arts. Some students have pursued Arts at both at the university level and professionally.
